Construction Project, Cliff Sowka K9QD

Construction project activities will resume on September 27th. There are no specific projects determined at this time. Cliff is open for any and all suggestions that will engage a reasonable number of members. High quality doughnuts are planned one again.

Education, Leo Ribordy N9NBH

The first of the 10 session Technician Classes set up at the request of the Schaumburg Emergency Manager, but open to the public,  was held and had 36 participants. This has all the marking of the largest class ever conducted. It was recommended that our VE testing group think about attending the last session and scheduling those interested in pursuing a license so it is done in a manageable way given the potential for a large volume of test requests.

Septemberfest Report, Howard Mitchell KD9WSV

This event was a tremendous success . We supplied 26 volunteers in our three day engagement for the parade and festival. The radio coverage was much approved since we had the opportunity to put an antenna on the roof of the Arts Center. There were several opportunities that demonstrated the value add by our volunteers and this was clearly recognized by the Village multiple times.  We had 26 volunteers and not one failed to show up at their assigned time so they deserve to be recognized:

Don Dewar                    Daryl Jenks

John Douglas               Dennis Calvey

Kirk Mussleman          John Thornton

Tom O’Boyle                 Jim Heyland

Bill McGovern               Eliot Libner

Jim McCann                  Keith Wiener

James W Neumann    Howard Mitchell

Paul Burkett                  Bill Riess

Dorie Pike                      Roger Young

Peter Schaak                Dave Carpenter

Robert McIntyre         Jon Wit

Youth Engagement – Kirk Musselman, K9MSG Chair

Kirk is seeking further volunteers to join five club members in the evening of 10/20 to host troop 66 in Bartlett as we put their scout, parents and leaders on the air

A Presentation is planned on 9/10 on behalf of SARC and Scouts on the Air to the Scout leaders of Pathways to Adventures Trailblazer District in Palatine

Youth Fox Hunt- Jim Campbell, Chair

There are only two more fox hunts scheduled for this year. Attendance thus far has been very poor despite a lot of hard work on Jim’s part. Jim has indicated that he will not be chairing this activity next year and thus the club will be looking for someone else to take over this activity.

Old Business

One of the members indicated that they have not had indications of repeater problems since the installation of the new antenna. There was general consensus that this was a huge success

New Business

Members were reminded that nominations are now open for the coming elections in November. Any individual who has been a member for at least one calendar year can be nominated,  or may self nominate, for any of the four officer positions as well as 2 Board of Director positions for 2026.

Paul Burkett, KD9FMN has attempted to contact every member individually. Members were reminded that additional names may be added to the ballot on the day of, and prior to, the actual election in November.

Howard Mitchell, Club secretary indicated that the same absentee ballot process used last year will again be available. He also stated that John Schofield and Bill Reese have once again agreed to be our trusted Talliers

Additional reminders of the election and information required by our club by-laws will be published beginning in October.
